estepona

The old town
It seems that Estepona has wedged its way into the running for being the most likeable Costa del Sol town...at least in our opinion! The old white village boasting classic Spanish street charm but set right against the Mediterranean sea makes it extra special! Yet it remains a little more humble than it's neighboring famous village Marbella, more accessible and easy to meander in an afternoon especially with all the recent transformed pedestrian only blocks. Multiple plazas are your centerfold to take in the buzz of the town. Wide shopping streets and offset alleyways with delightful color-coded hanging flower pots are sure to make you smile and snap a photo.
Notably, the town has become a center for gastronomy--pick from endless lively terraces serving every cuisine. Or opt for the busy paseo marítimo dotted with chiringuitos and cafes. Rent a beach cruiser to cover more miles. Estepona is a crowd-pleaser in the least, 20 minutes from The Wild Olive.

the port
About 1 kilometer West of the old town is the port of Estepona (which you can access by foot on the Paseo Marítimo). With the old town's recent attention, the port seems to be slowly following in its footsteps with newcomers and upgrades. For now, it's a nice pocket of bars and restaurants for every taste lining the marina where you can overlook the boats come in and even charter your own. Early morning risers can rub shoulders with the fisherman hauling a daily catch to their stall and on Sundays, the port is home to an enormous market of touristic goods.
